Treasurer, Board of Directors
Position Description
The Treasurer is elected to serve (volunteer position) as an officer of the Alpharetta Symphony’s Board of Directors and is under agreement to Alpharetta Symphony Orchestra, Inc. The Treasurer collaborates closely with the Executive Director and Board President to ensure the organization is achieving its fiscal and fundraising goals in keeping with the organizational mission, budget, and mandates of the Board.
Responsibilities
Serve as a voting member of the Board of Directors.
Attend all Board meetings.
Serve as a member of the Board’s Governance/Executive Committee.
Chair the Board’s Finance Committee.
Determine the operating budget based on the orchestra's fiscal year and budgets for specific programs or tasks in conjunction with the Executive Director, President, Board members, and other program heads.
Prepare and generate timely, accurate, and reliable financial reports on a monthly basis and at the end of the organization’s fiscal year for the Finance Committee, Board of Directors, Executive Director and Music Director. Financial reports include budget documents, statements of financial position, cash flow and activity and comparison of budget to actuals. Timely and reliable financial information is crucial for sound and informed financial decision making.
Ensure the fiscal year operating budget is submitted to the Board of Directors for approval.
Monitor the organization’s current and future financial health.
Create and review operating budgets and update forecasts as needed.
Follow statutory and regulatory financial deadlines and responsibilities as required.
Develop financial goals and the measures to achieve them.
Establish, along with the Finance Committee, and distribute the organization’s financial policies and procedures. Ensure financial policies receive approval by the Board of Directors.
Oversee the activities of the Bookkeeper.
Oversee audits as required.
Sign corporate resolutions, bank documents, and contracts when necessary.
Align financial goals with the organization’s mission.
Identify and manage risk.
Identify investment strategies to manage and grow the organization's funds.
Safeguard the organization’s assets, data, and sensitive information.
Act as advocate for the Alpharetta Symphony organization.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in a financial or business field, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
Technical accounting skills to oversee funds collected and distributed.
Investment management skills to grow the funds and expand the organization’s community reach.
Organizational leadership to strategize and direct the group’s financial future.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, sound judgment and professional presence.

Music Librarian
Position Description
The Music Librarian is an at-will position hired by and under contract with the Alpharetta Symphony Orchestra, Inc. This role reports directly to the Music Director in coordination with the Executive Director and is responsible for overseeing, preparing, and executing all rehearsal and performance activities related to the music library.
Responsibilities
Secure performance materials (scores, parts, rentals, purchases, and loans) for concerts and events.
Collaborate with the Music Director and Marketing Director to provide timely and accurate program information.
Upload parts and materials to the internal musician portal (Dropbox) for access.
Coordinate with the concertmaster and string principals on bowings for the string sections.
Implement changes to music (cuts, edits, new parts, etc.) and ensure accuracy across all materials.
Utilize music notation software and manuscript skills to create or edit materials as needed.
Maintain memberships and manage reporting for LML, SMP, Zinfonia, Daniel’s, ASCAP, BMI, and related platforms.
Research repertoire requested by the Music Director using resources such as Zinfonia, Daniel’s, and the Wind Repertory Project.
Liaise with soloists regarding appropriate editions of orchestral accompaniments.
Identify and correct errors or errata in scores and parts as assigned.
Prepare internal editions, transcriptions, and transpositions when required.
Collaborate with and support Artistic Staff and Volunteers (e.g., Music Director, Stage Manager, Personnel Manager).
Represent and advocate for the Alpharetta Symphony in a professional manner.
Qualifications and Skills
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in music, performing arts, or equivalent professional experience.

Broad knowledge of classical repertoire and instrumental ensemble structure.
Experience managing people and coordinating artistic teams.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment, and professional presence.
Ability to lift, move, and assist with rehearsal/performance setup as needed.
Abilities:
Strong ability to read and interpret musical scores.
Broad knowledge of classical repertoire and instrumental ensemble structure.
Experience managing people and coordinating artistic teams.
Proficiency with music notation software (Finale, Sibelius, Dorico, etc.).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment, and professional presence.
Ability to communicate in a timely and professional manner.

Compensation and Commitment
$300 per month (12-month contract)
Regular collaboration required via email, Slack, shared files, and staff meetings.
Must meet deadlines aligned with concert calendars.
